• Coaching Shot Put

    We will work on the traditional glide or the rotational throw depending on interest, age, strength, and skill level. If this is your first time throwing, we will begin with the glide. Our time will be spent focusing on creating torque, moving linearly across the ring, and finishing violently with a big rotational release. Each session will feature warmup throws, light and heavy implements, medicine ball work, lots of drills, video analysis, post-throws discussion, and a list of things to work on at home between sessions.

  • Coaching Discus

    We’ll work on the discus grip and spend a lot of time on the Standing throw as this is a critical first step to moving into half turns and full throws. The full movement is linear and rotational so we’ll work on rotating out of the back of the ring, hitting a primed power position, and driving the discus across and out at the point of release. We want the discus spinning fast out of your hand so we will direct every movement to that goal. Each session will feature lots of drills, video analysis, and a list of things to work on at home between sessions.
